(From Ozark Funeral Home)Harriet Henson Campbell went to rest in the arms of Jesus, Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at 10:50 pm, with her family holding her hands.
Harriet was born August 27, 1945, in Rosco, TX, to John Lee Henson and Freddie Ruth (Blackwell) Henson. She spent her childhood in Lake Jackson, TX, where she loved hanging out with her friends, swimming, playing sports and riding horses.
Harriet met the love of her life, Jess Campbell, in 1968 in Kansas City, MO. They were joined in marriage October 17, 1969, which began a 52-year journey of love, laughter, tears, and partnership.
Harriet was a strong, independent woman who blazed her own way in life. She held many positions in her career including paralegal, Public Administrator, and reserve deputy. Harriet had a love of retail that began when she and Jess opened Campbell’s General Store in Pineville, Mo, in 1979. Harriet was especially proud of becoming one of the first female buyers at Walmart in the mid 1980s.
Harriet’s greatest passion in life was her family. She was the cornerstone of all gatherings where she shared many of her delicious dishes including her potato salad, enchiladas, fettuccini, and fried chicken. Harriet was also a dedicated member of the Pineville United Methodist Church, where she played piano for more than 25 years.
Harriet is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jess; her son Allen Campbell (Julie) of Pineville; her son Steve Campbell (Amy) of Pineville; her daughter Kim Burke (Myron) of Rogers, AR; her brother Dr. James B. Henson of Enterprise, OR; her brother John Lee Henson Jr. of Graham, TX; her sister Judy Wolf (Joe) of Pineville; 11 grandkids; and 15 great grandkids. She is preceded in death by her mother, father, and sister Marilyn Henson.
