(From Parker Mortuary)Rose Ethel McCracken, age 79, Joplin, passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Galena Nursing Center after a yearlong illness.
Rose was born May 21, 1941 in Miami, Oklahoma, daughter of the late Joseph Holland Duncan and Rubye Clara (Durham) Duncan. She was a 1959 graduate of Miami High School.
She worked for Bruce Williams’s Laboratories of Joplin for some time before beginning her career in the Trust Department where she retired from U.S. Bank after over 40 years of service in 2016.
She was a member of Christ’s Community Church where she enjoyed the Senior Saints, Lighthouse Sunday School and the Jewels of D’Nile groups. She was a loyal sister of Beta Sigma Phi Preceptor Lambda XI Chapter, a member of Surviving Spouses, Freeman Advantage, and Mercy Prestige. She enjoyed many games and activities with the Joplin Senior Center, as well as attending the four state area Arts and Crafts Festivals.
In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years; John K. McCracken, as well as her sister Phyllis Lindley, and brother Roger Duncan both of Tulsa Oklahoma.
Survivors include her daughters, Angela Street and husband Billy of Joplin MO, Rhonda Patterson of Rocklin CA, James McCracken and wife Lisa of Columbus KS, and Cynthia McCracken VanSlyke of Joplin MO; grandchildren, Duncan Street and wife Krystal of Franklin, IN, Amelia Street Osborne and husband Bryce of Shelbyville KY, Mariah Patterson Norell and husband Alex of San Jose CA, Joshua Patterson of Rocklin CA, Michael VanSlyke and wife Hailey of Webb City, and Molly VanSlyke Doke and husband Harold of Washburn MO, great grandchildren; Drake Doke and Sawyer Doke Of Washburn MO.
Funeral service will be Monday, May 24, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ’s Community Church with Pastor Chris Sloan and Bob Dart officiating. Interment will follow in Osborne Memorial Cemetery with Billy Street, James McCracken, Duncan Street, Michael VanSlyke, Joshua Patterson, and Bryce Osborne serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Sunday from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.
The family request that memorial contributions be made to the Wheelchair Ramp Ministry of Christ Community Church.
