Irvin Nelson

Irvin Oliver Nelson, age 90, of Seneca, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at his home.

Irvin was born June 16, 1932 in Bismarck, North Dakota, to the late union of Walfred and Adeline Nelson. He grew up in North Dakota and moved to California shortly after graduating high school. 

In 1955, he joined the United States Army and aided in the Korean War as a Telephone Switch Board Operator. 








On March 28, 1959 he married the love of his life, Wanda Faulkiner, in Norwalk, California. In 1961, he was honorably discharged and returned to civilian life. He enjoyed sitting on the porch relaxing and swinging with his family. In his younger years, he loved to go boating and fishing. His passion though was tinkering on old cars. He was a longtime member at Faith Tabernacle Church for over 50 years.

In addition to his parents and four brothers, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Yvonne Sulieŕ.








Irvin is survived by his wife of the home, Wanda Nelson; two daughters, Anita Horton (Paul) and Lenora Hentz; five grandchildren, Chris Schmitt (Michelle), Casey Schmitt, Vincent Hentz, Tyler Horton, and Jacob Horton; five great-grandchildren, Alexis Schmitt, Alyssa Schmitt, Kolin Schmitt, Cayden Schmitt, and Dominick Cox; and one son-in-law, Joel Sulieŕ (Kathy).

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 11a.m. at Faith Tabernacle Church at 820 N Schifferdecker Ave in Joplin, Missouri with Pastor Twyla Johnson officiating.

Cremation arrangements are under the special direction of Parker Mortuary.
