Carolyn Jean Rowe, age 86, of Joplin, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.
Carolyn, daughter of the late Eli and Jewel (Young) Davis, was born on October 8, 1936 in Zincville, OK. At the young age of 18, she moved to California.
During her time in California, she met and was united in marriage to J.B. Vanover in May of 1956. Together they raised their three children in California and then moved to Joplin in 1991 to make their home. J.B. preceded Carolyn in death on February 29, 2000. Not long after, she was fortunate to meet Bill Rowe, and together they celebrated 16 years of marriage until his passing in February of 2017.
Carolyn was an active community member. She enjoyed her weekly bowling league and volunteering her time with Joplin VFW Bingo nights. She was a past president of VFW Post 5293 Ladies Axillary and enjoyed puzzles and eating at Golden Corral with her friends.
Survivors include her children, Bob Vanover, and his wife, Linda, of Carl Junction, Allan Vanover, and his wife, Nichol, of Chino Hills, CA, and Debbie Ascheri, and her husband, Rick, of Fullerton, CA; grandchildren, Robert Vanover Jr., Jeff Vanover, Jeremy Vanover, Richard Weilbacher, Sara Vanover, Madison Vanover, Kenny Ascheri, and Kevin Ascheri; eight great grandchildren; one brother, Parker Davis, of Ozark, AR; one sister, Lois Purcell, of Webb City; step-children, Frank Rowe, Billie Rowe, Kelly Baehler, and Rosie Seagraves; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. In addition to Carolyn’s parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Vanatta, and Joanne Vandiver.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 16, 2023, at 5:00 PM at Parker Mortuary with Minister Randy Steele officiating. Visitation will follow the service on Monday. Inurnment will be held at a later date in California.
Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
