Ruthie Boyd

Vera Ruth “Ruthie” Boyd, 80, a longtime Fairland resident passed away at her home on Thursday, January 12, 2023 surrounded by her family. Ruthie was born on November 21, 1942 in Fairland to Melvin Lonzo and Anna Louise (Whipkey) Brock. She attended Fairland Schools. 

She married the love of her life Larry Eugene Boyd on July 25, 1959 in Fairland. She and Larry were members of First United Methodist Church in Fairland. She was very active and loved serving in her the church. 








Ruthie was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Women’s Auxiliary, She was also a member of the Mother’s Alpha Club that was in Fairland for years. She enjoyed family, having gatherings and keeping up with the grandchildren. Mrs. Boyd was preceded in passing by her parents Melvin and Anna Brock, her husband Larry Boyd, and two brothers John Brock and Melvin Brock.

Those left to share Ruthie’s memory are her children Teresa Turner and her husband James of Miami, Tim Boyd and his wife Laura of Neosho, Lisa Fields and her husband Donnie of Fairland and Jeff Boyd and his wife Alexandra of Fairland.Also surviving are her grandchildren Amanda Keaton and her husband Michael, Jamie Turner, Keeley Fields, Clinton Boyd and his wife Tiannah, Noah Fields and his wife Whitney, Newt Turner, Adrienne Tyree and her husband Matthew, and Elizabeth Boyd along with twenty-one great grandchildren (another one on the way) and one great great grandchild.

Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at First United Methodist Church in Fairland.








There will be a Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Tim Mixson and Shannon Rodenberg officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairland Cemetery under the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairland.

Ruthie has requested her pallbearers be her grandsons and granddaughters.

The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the DAV Women’s Auxillary, PO Box 450135, Grove, OK 74345.
