(From Bath-Naylor Funeral Home)Roy Charles Whisenhunt, age 87, of Carl Junction, MO, formally of Pittsburg, KS, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at his home in Carl Junction, MO.
He was born on December 22, 1935 in Bumblebee, AR, the son of Jeff Davis and Ollie Ester (Short) Whisenhunt.
Roy served in the United States Marines as a corporal for 2 years.
On July 24, 1971, he was united in marriage to Vesta Brown at Schlanger Park in Pittsburg.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.
Survivors include; his wife Vesta Whisenhunt of the home, 5 children; Rick Whisenhunt and wife Kelli of Denton, TX, Darlene Morris and husband Randy of Tuttle, OK, Stephenie Short of Mindenmines, MO, Josh Whisenhunt and wife Brittney of Ozark, MO, Jordana Whisenhunt of Carl Junction, MO, 12 grandchildren; Clint Morris, Claude Whisenhunt and wife Ashley, Kirk Whisenhunt, Keith Morris, Natalie Brown, Anthony Thomas, Ethan Hall, Kara Short, Kylee Short, Emmalynn, Brynlee, Makenna Whisenhunt and 6 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Virginia Padgett and husband Bob, Barney Whisenhunt and wife Ruth, Bobby Whisenhunt, Billy Whisenhunt and daughter; Rhonda Whisenhunt.
Funeral services will be 10 am, Monday, January 23, 2023 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg with Pastor Jeremy Workman officiating. Burial will follow at the Crocker Cemetery.
Family will receive friends Sunday, January 22, 2023 from 4-6 pm at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, Pittsburg, KS.
Memorials may be left to the Alzheimer’s Association; these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
