Vickie Cupp

Vickie Marie Cupp, age 62, Webb City, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 while enjoying a cruise in Mexico with her family.

Vickie was born May 31, 1960 in Joplin, daughter of the late George W. Smith and Esther Mae (Kahoe) Smith. She grew up in Joplin, and graduated from Parkwood High School in 1978, and then attended Missouri Southern State University before eventually earning her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Missouri State University in Springfield. 








She began her career in social work at Jasper County Family Services (DFS) and Freeman Hospital before becoming a Professor at Crowder College which she did for several years. In year 2001, she began private Adoption services. To date she has completed over 2000 home studies for adoptions & orphanages all over the world. She was currently working at Behavior Management of Joplin & Better Help Telehealth as a clinical social worker. She was a member of Destiny Church, Joplin. 

She loved spending time with her daughters, her sisters and all family and friends but those moments were secondary. Her whole world and first priority was not missing a single moment with her grandchildren. Vickie’s passion for people was evident in every faucet of her life- home, church, work, and everyday life. She will be deeply missed.

Upon arrival into Heaven, she was greeted by her parents, as well as her granddaughter, Symphony Reign a grandson, Canaan Joseph, an Infant Sharon; and her son- in- law, Johnnie Schofield. Oh the day that will be!








Survivors include her husband, Jim Cupp; children, Amy Schofield Ellis (Joe) of Carthage, Lacey Sharon (Zachary) of Webb City, and Erin Jane Cupp (Kyle Novitsky) of Grapevine, Texas; grandchildren, Chandler age 20, Lauren age 19, Landon age 15, Haylee age 13, Velvet age 11, and Armanie age 6; her sisters, Rhonda Hoffman of Webb City, Lori Hindman of Wentzville, Missouri, and Shawn Cregar of Houston, Texas; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be Friday, January 27, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at The Sanctuary, 1831 S. Connor Ave., with Rev. Joe Ellis and Rev. Gene Bebee officiating. Interment will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with family serving as pallbearers and Rev. Rex Robertson officiating. The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Thursday from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.
