(From Parker Mortuary)Peter “Pete” Roland Durham, age 72, of Carthage, passed away on Saturday, January 14th, 2023 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.
Pete was born March 16th, 1950 in Waukesha, WI to the late union of George and Nellie “Busby” Durham. He enlisted into the United States Marines in 1968 and served until 1972 as an 03-11-Rifleman. He proudly expressed his esprit de corps as a Vietnam Veteran.
He married Barbara Gipson in 1997 in Vista California. Pete worked as a bus aide and custodian for Carthage Schools, as well as a custodian for the YMCA. He enjoyed collecting jewelry, knives, and spending his free time garage sale shopping. Pete will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his two siblings, Floyd and Bill Durham.
Pete is survived by his wife, Barbara; two daughters, Carrie Wilson (Dwayne) and Katie Frink; four grandchildren, Gabrielle Wilson age 28, Matthew Wilson age 30, Paige Flannagan age 29, and Kurtis Flannagan age 16; and three siblings, Jerry Durham, Eddie Durham, and Marilyn Brown.
Cremation arrangements are under the special care of Parker Mortuary.
