(From Clark Funeral Home)Betty Jane Crews was born on January 25, 1935, in Blue Cane, Arkansas, to Herbert and Ola (Collier) Seay. Betty graduated from Rector High School in 1952, Southern Baptist College in 1954, Arkansas State University in 1960, and attended the University of Michigan.
She taught elementary school for 30 years, and this allowed her husband, Ray, to attend Seminary and pastor small churches in the early years of marriage. Betty was born again and baptized at Friendship Baptist Church near Kennett, Missouri. Her heart was in loving and teaching pastor's wives. She taught in the States, Ghana and Liberia. She enjoyed three months of living in the Sinai desert in Israel, lecturing Jewish ladies about the Tabernacle. She really loved when they served as chaplains on cruise ships in the Caribbean!
Betty was an encourager, teacher, choir member, and faithful servant and supported her husband Ray in his pastoral ministry for over sixty-six years.
On September 6, 1953, in Piggott, Arkansas, Betty and Ray Crews were united in marriage and shared sixty-nine years together.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Carol Ann Steed and husband, Roy of Fayetteville, Arkansas; John Mark Crews and wife, Jo of Benton, Arkansas and Jane Ellen Massey and husband, Gary of Neosho; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
