Charles Brinkhoff

(From Greenfield Funeral Chapel)

Our beloved father Charles Ray Brinkhoff, surrounded by his children, left this world on January 18, 2023, at the age of 88. A longtime resident of Golden City, Missouri, Charles was a farmer to his very core. He loved the land and could tell you its yield for any given year and the history of each cow in his herd.

Born on December 24, 1934, to Elmer and Sophie Brinkhoff of Lockwood, Charles attended Immanuel Lutheran Church and School with his brother Elmer Jr. He liked to joke that his birth gave his father an opportunity to score an extra bag of goodies at the children’s Christmas Eve service. Later, Charles attended Lockwood High School where he was a standout basketball player.

Charles married Diane Delaney of Kansas City on December 27, 1956. Shortly after, he was called to serve his country in the United States Army Signal Corps. The couple settled in Golden City where they raised five children.

Charles delighted in his family, attending his children’s games and activities throughout the years, and later, those of his grandchildren. From tractor rides for the grandkids to trips to Silver Dollar City, he took such joy in being together.

Diane preceded Charles in death, as did his son Mike Brinkhoff. He is survived by his brother Elmer Brinkhoff Jr. (Anna), his daughters Nancy Lund (Guy), Mary DePaolo (Dean) and Peggy Roen (Scott), and his son Jeff Brinkhoff (Jerica) as well as 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service to honor and celebrate his life will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Friday, January 27, at 10 am. An hour prior to the service, family members welcome friends and neighbors to pay respects during the visitation, also at the church. Charles will be laid to rest next to his wife in the church cemetery following the service.

Gone from our sight, but forever in our hearts.

Charles was an active lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, which he dearly loved. We invite you to make a donation to the church in lieu of flowers.
