(From Simpson Funeral Home)Thomas Randall McCarter, 44, entered into his heavenly home on January 28, 2023 in Webb City, MO. Tommy was born January 23, 1979, in Canton, NC to Randy and Jacque McCarter. His early years were spent living in Haywood County, NC, where he graduated from Pisgah High School in 1997.
He enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 21. During his tenure in the Army he served as a Multiple Launch Rocket System Crewmember progressing to Section Chief, where he deployed to Iraq from 2003 to 2004 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom One.
Afterwards he volunteered for recruiting duty and, after 22 years of service, retired as the First Sergeant of the Joplin Army Recruiting Company in Joplin, Missouri. Tommy was incredibly proud of his service and kept in close contact with many of his former soldiers, peers, and superiors providing friendship, mentorship and tough-love as required.
Tommy will be remembered as a good man. He was a selfless, generous, and loving person who used his many talents to enrich and contribute to the lives of those fortunate to know him. He possessed a contagious sense of humor and was dedicated to things he cared for.

Tommy loved being outside goofing off with his son and the neighborhood kids, chatting with the neighbors and all around enjoying life. When he loved, he loved wholeheartedly. You could always count on him to lend a hand, crack a joke or help where help was needed.
Tommy is preceded in death by his mother Jacque McCarter and his father Randy McCarter. He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Theresa, his son Keagan McCarter, his Daughter Alexis Johnson and husband Krisavion Johnson of Cheyenne, WY; sister Cindy Hall and husband Myron Hall with nephew Colton Brooks of Bakersfield, NC; sister Christy McCarter with Niece Isabella Perkins of Clyde, NC.
A Celebration of Life service honoring Tommy will be held at Simpson Funeral home in Webb City, MO, on February 24, 2023. Visitation will be at 1 pm with the service following at 2 pm.
