Doug Christerson

Douglas Earl “Doug” Christerson, 59, of Yukon, Oklahoma, formerly of Anderson, Missouri, departed this life suddenly on Thursday evening, January 12, 2023 at Freeman Hospital in Neosho, Missouri, after suffering a massive heart attack while working on the family farm in Anderson.

Doug entered this life on October 3, 1963, in Joplin, Missouri, one of two children born to Kenneth and Myra (Fox) Christerson. On June 1, 1985, he was united in marriage to Lisa Hollingsworth and to this union three children were born, Drew, Hailey and Claire.






 

He was raised in Anderson and was a 1982 graduate of McDonald County High School. He furthered his education at MSSC in Joplin where he was involved in the ROTC program, graduating as an officer. He went on to receive his masters in agriculture from OSU. Doug also attended and graduated flight school at Fort Rucker in Alabama. He served his country faithfully for over thirty-three years in the Army National Guard, retiring in 2019. 

For a time Doug, was the Shelter Insurance Agent in Anderson. They moved their family to Edmond, Oklahoma in 2012 and to Yukon in 2021. He enjoyed farming and was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and OSU fan.

Doug is survived by is wife of thirty-seven years, Lisa Christerson of the home; three children, Drew Christerson of Oklahoma City, Hailey Christerson of Yukon and Claire Rosado and husband, Chase, of Meridian, Oklahoma; a granddaughter, Everly Rosado; his parents, Kenny and Myra Christerson of Anderson; a sister, Gina Hoth and husband, Jason, of Goodman; as well as a host of other family and friends.






 

Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2023, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes. Burial with full military honors will follow at Peace Valley Cemetery in Anderson. 

Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Jason Hoth, Carson Hoth, Billy Williams, Cody Williams, Shawn Williams and Adam Henson. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
