(From Lakin Funeral Home)Helen Nadine Brattin, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at her home in Exeter, MO. She was born in Oak Grove, MO on Saturday, August 27, 1932; daughter of Wilbur and Ella (Renner) Elkins. She was a 1950 graduate of Wheaton High School.
Helen married Ludon Brattin on Sunday, June 25, 1950, in Wheaton, MO. Granny loved her family. She and Ludon attended all their children's and grandchildren's activities. She was her grandkids' #1 fan!
Granny was a very active member of the Wheaton School District PTA when her kids and grandkids were in school. She attended Stella Baptist Church. Granny loved history. She was a board member of the Stella Historical Society and the Stella Senior Citizen Center. She was a member of the Wheaton Senior Citizen Center also.
Her family says that she was an avid cook, spent many hours gardening and canning, enjoyed traveling, and loved to camp with family. She will be remembered for her fiery spirit, time spent with family, work in the community, and activities/boards she helped with over the years.
Surviving are the following: one daughter, Brenda (John) Rowe of Bentonville, AR; two sons, Jon Brattin of Wheaton, MO and Joe (Angela) Brattin of Fairview, MO; a son-in-law, Larry Wilson of Wheaton, MO; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mrs. Brattin was welcomed in heaven by her parents, Wilbur and Ella Elkins; her husband, Ludon Brattin; her daughter, Sarah Wilson; a grandson, Scott Keith; and two siblings, Dale Elkins and Ruth Phillips.
The family will receive friends at Stella Baptist Church in Stella, MO on Saturday, January 14, 2023, from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM.
Funeral services will be at Stella Baptist Church in Stella, MO on Saturday, January 14, 2023, beginning at 2:00 PM with Pastor Joe Brattin and Brother Mark Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Hazel Green Cemetery in Boulder City, MO.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stella Baptist Church in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO.
