(From Nichols Funeral Home)Roger “Dwain” “Cowboy” “Pops” Boyd, (he had several affectionate nick names throughout his life) age 76, of Wyandotte, Ok, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family..
Roger was born on January 26, 1946, to Robert and Elaine (Kimes) Boyd in Chester, AR. He grew up in Prairie Grove, AR. Roger was a dedicated employee and a hardworking truck driver for Allen Canning in Siloam Springs, AR for 45 years until retiring. His handle was "Teddy Bear", adding to his string of nicknames.
He married the love of his life, Ruth “Bernice” Wilcox on October 5, 2009, in Anderson, MO and they made their home in Noel, MO. In 2018, the couple moved to Wyandotte, OK.
Roger was Christian in faith and loved NASCAR, WWE Wrestling and old western movies. He was a kind man with a sweet disposition that was always cheerful. Roger adored his wife and family. Tinkering in his immaculate tool shed was one of his favorite past times and he enjoyed collecting pocketknives and mowing. Nicknamed “Cowboy”, Roger was seldom seen not wearing this pearl snap shirts and cowboy boots. His ornery smile will be greatly missed.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Vivian Boyd, infant sister Lilly and child brother, Jimmy Boyd.
Left to cherish his memory, wife Bernice Boyd, sons, Kevin Boyd (Polly) of Farmington, AR and Roger “Craig” Boyd (Natalie), of Gentry, AR; Siblings, Patsy Coyle (Bruce), Robert Dale Boyd (Kenni), Carolyn Cooper and Marylou Derby, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; step-children, Jack Wilcox, (Lewonna), James Wilcox, Valaree Wilcox and Jennifer Kirby, 8 step-grandchildren and many step- great-grandkids, all of McDonald Co, Mo.
