(From Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary)Josephine A Bauni, age 81 of Joplin passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2023. She was born in Vicksburg, MS on May 30, 1941, the daughter of Henry L Bauni, Sr. and Josephine M (Chisholm) Bauni.
JoAnne was a graduate of McAuley Catholic High School and Missouri Southern State University. Miss Bauni worked as an RN for Mercy Hospital for 40 years.
She was an active and devoted member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. One of her greatest joys was volunteering at the Ronald McDonald’s House. She was awarded the Lieutenant Governor’s Senior Service Award for her more than 11,000 hours of service.
Survivors include sister, Mary E. Stone, Louisville, KY, nephews Robert Stone, Chicago, IL, Kevin Stone (Megan), Winona Lake, IN, niece Marie Young, Louisville, KY.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry L Bauni, Sr and Josephine Bauni, her brother and sister-in-law, Henry L Bauni and Nancy Bauni and nephew Hank Bauni and niece Beth Vecchi.
Visitation will be from 6-8:00pm Wednesday January 11 at Thornhill Dillon Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am Thursday, January 12 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Fr. Joe Weidenbenner as celebrant. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Four States.
