(From Parker Mortuary)Roy Lee Ray, age 75, died peacefully January 2nd 2023 at his home in Joplin, MO surrounded by family after a short battle with cancer.
Roy was born July 25th, 1947 in Neosho, MO to Roy S. Ray and Laverne (Taylor) Scott. He graduated from Neosho High School. Roy had retired in 2008 after a successful career as a car salesman in the southwest Missouri area.
Roy was happily married to Marsha (Courtney) Ray who was his partner in life for 55 years at the time of his death.
Roy is survived by his wife Marsha (Courtney) Ray, 2 children Melissa (Ray) Zahnle, Jennifer (Ray) Clements and husband Matthew Clements; grandchildren Lucy Rae Clements and Reece Clements; Along with a huge extended family which he embraced and loved like his own children.
He was an avid car enthusiast, Nascar, classic and dirt track. He loved talking about local and national news and tinkering with whatever machine or project he could get his hands on. His biggest pride was his home and his family; he spent a lifetime nurturing both.
He was a kind person with a giant smile that would make a friend out of anyone be it a person or animal. The world has lost a little sparkle after this man left it but we can be forever grateful to have had a chance to be a part of it even for a little while.
