Thomas Kinkade

Thomas Kinkade, age 96, of Joplin, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2023 at his home surrounded by family.

Thomas, son of the late Ray and Rose (McDaniel) Kinkade, was born on November 24, 1926, in Spurgeon, MO. He grew up and attended school in the Spurgeon area and was a graduate of Neosho High School. Following high school Thomas enlisted in the United States Navy. 









During his time in the Navy, he was stationed in Hawaii during World War II serving as a morse code operator as an air crewman onboard a PBY Fly Boat. After honorably serving his country, he returned to the area and was united marriage to Iris Cox on September 25, 1948, in Joplin. She preceded him in death on January 30, 2006. Thomas was employed with Empire Electric until his retirement as a foreman after 30 years of service.

Thomas was a devoted family man. He adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren and valued his friendships. He was a kind caring man, who loved to help those in need from small home projects to building ramps for those who needed them. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church and was a devoted family man. His kindness and caring ways will be missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his daughter, Debbie Evans, of Joplin; one granddaughter, Michae Thomas, and her husband, Briant, of Fort Worth, TX; one grandson, Shawn Hofer, and his wife, Amy, of Rutledge, GA; great grandchildren, Cassidy Hofer, Henry Hofer, Breann Thomas (Christopher), McKenna Lynch (Nick), Keely Thomas, Kailyn Thomas, Aliah Thomas, and Laykin Thomas; great-great grandchildren, Atlas Thomas, Paisley Rodney, Landry Rodney, and Kossner Rodney; several nieces and nephews; and many extended family members. 








In addition to his parents and wife, Thomas was preceded in death by three brothers, Ken Kinkade, Gene Kinkade, and Bill Kinkade; and two sisters, Kathleen “Kac” LeGrande, and Geraldine Riggs.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Osborne Memorial Cemetery in Joplin with Minister Keith Jackson officiating. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Wednesday, January 4th beginning at 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Parker Mortuary in Joplin. Memorial contributions may be made to the organization of donors choice in memory of Thomas and may be entrust to the mortuary.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
