Barbara Ely

Barbara Ann Ely, aged 88, passed away on November 8, 2023. She was born to John Max Helf and Geneva Mahnke Helf on May 1, 1935, in Guthrie, OK. 

After graduating from Fairview High School, Barbara devoted her career to various manufacturing companies, including Kraft Foods, East Side Shoe, and Big Smith, ultimately retiring from La-Z-Boy in Neosho, MO. 







Barbara was a devout member of the Fellowship Baptist Church and was actively involved in several clubs such as 4-H and Widow to Widow. She selflessly volunteered with Meals on Wheels, embodying her generous and caring nature. She had an adventurous spirit, finding immense joy in her travels to numerous National Parks. 

An avid Cardinals fan, Barbara held a special place in her heart for her favorite team. However, nothing brought her more happiness than spending time with her adored great-grandchildren. 

On May 23, 1953, Barbara was united in marriage to Lester Ely in Fairview, MO, until his passing on August 10, 2016. 








Left to cherish her memory are her children: Ron Ely and wife Cami, Clarence Ely and wife Toni, Beverly Ely, James Ely and wife Rhonda, and daughter-in-law Jill Ely, widow of Don Ely. Barbara leaves behind thirteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and anticipated the arrival of one more great-great-grandchild coming 2024. She is also survived by her brother, Johnny Helf and his wife Joyce, and sister Mary Huffman. Barbara Ann Ely was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son, Don Ely.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 9, 2023, from 4-6 PM at Clark Funeral Home in Neosho. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023, at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Memories, followed by a graveside service at Dice Cemetery in Fairview, MO.
