Carma Reeves

Carma O'Dell Reeves, 92, of Sarcoxie, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2023, in Joplin, Missouri, after a life filled with joy and love.

She was born on Saturday, January 17, 1931, in Berryville, Arkansas to the union of the late Ira and Essie (Newman) High. Growing up in Sarcoxie, she was a graduate of Sarcoxie High School.

Carma married the love of her life, Clyde Reeves, sharing seventy-four wonderful years together and they built a loving family.








Carma is survived by her husband, Clyde; children, Larry Reeves of Carthage, and Randy Reeves and wife, Janice of Sarcoxie. Carma was a beloved grandmother to Johnna Hagebusch, Tiffany Fink and husband, Travis, Brittany Harper, Randi Barker and husband, Matt. She was also blessed with five great-grandchildren, Sasha Waltz and husband, Eric, Taegan Fink, Emma Seedorf, Toryn Fink, and Victoria Barker. Carma's family also includes her brother, Maurice High and wife, Thelma, of Carthage. Her family and friends will miss her deeply, cherishing the memories they made together.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Madonna Burns; and grandson, Clifton Burns.

Her work ethic and dedication were evident throughout her career, beginning her journey at Bragdon Drug Store, then moving on to Juvenile Shoe and retiring from Justin Boot.

Carma's interests were diverse and reflected her love for life and the great outdoors. She loved fishing and camping, immersing herself in the beauty of nature. She was a fantastic cook, and her culinary skills were appreciated by many, especially at the Sarcoxie Senior Center, where she often baked pies. She had a flair for attending shows in Branson and participating in auctions. She also loved ball games, cheering enthusiastically for her favorite teams, and working in the election polls. During a past celebration of Chief Sarcoxie Days, she and Clyde were awarded the title of Chief and Squaw. She was a faithful member of Freedom Christian Fellowship Church.






 

Carma's legacy is one of love, kindness, and generosity. She was a gentle soul who touched many lives with her warmth and friendliness. Her family will forever remember her as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Her friends and colleagues will remember her as a compassionate and dedicated individual who always lent a helping hand.

Graveside services are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Sarcoxie Cemetery with Pastor Moses Martinez officiating. Those honoring her life as pallbearers will be Jerry Edwards, Johnna Hagebusch, Janice Reeves, Jeanne Sooter, Jiggs Carrick and Dan Lee.
