Mike Reppond

Mike Reppond, age 72, of Rogers, AR, formerly of Joplin, passed away on Tuesday October 31, 2023, following a brief illness.

Mike was born on August 24, 1951, in San Diego, CA, the son of the late Donald and Geraldine (Akers) Reppond. 

In 1970 Mike was recruited to play football for the University of Arkansas where majored in marketing. He was a football letterman from 1970 to 1972. In 1971. He was All Southwest Conference, AP& UPI Honorable Mention All American, and received the Worthen Sports Award. 








In 1972 he was Pre-Season All American: Game Plan Magazine, and a member of the University of Arkansas All Decade Team in the 1970’s. He played in the 1973 Hula Bowl and the 1973 North-South Shrine Bowl. Prior to graduation in 1973 he was drafted by the Buffalo Bills, he played several years for the Chicago Bears, and then later for the Washington Redskins. He was also drafted by the World Football League. Mike loved anything that involved sports. He especially enjoyed golf and baseball.

Mike’s career spans many decades in the motor sports industry, beginning in 1981 with Dunlap Tire Corporation where he was Western Regional Manager. In 1985, he owned and operated R&W Distributing, during this time he also was an assistant coach for Caldwell High School in Caldwell, Kansas. He worked as a National Sales Manager for Mac Products. He was an account executive /show host for HOG Sports Radio and worked several other jobs before completely retiring in 2011. He was a former member of the United Pentecostal Church.

Mike married Debbie Freund on December 22, 2007, in Neosho, MO, and she survives. Additional survivors include; two sons, Chris Reppond, Sierra Vista, AZ, and Bradley Reppond, Joplin; one daughter, Rachel Rhodes; two grandchildren; three brothers, Ralph Reppond and his wife Ramona, Joplin, Minor Reppond and his wife Teresa, Waterloo, IA, and Jeff Reppond, Oglethorpe, GA; three sisters, Debbie Zerkel and husband, Jim, Joplin, Cindy Blum and husband David, Joplin, and Jane Southwick and husband Ken, Carthage, MO; brothers-in-law, Henry Freund, Neosho, MO, and James Schichtl, El Paso, TX; sister-in-law, June Freund, Joplin; and his beloved dog J.R.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Geraldine Reppond; his in-laws, Grace and Arthur Freund; a brother, Don Reppond; a sister, Sherrill Copher; and sisters-in-law, Coralee Freund, and Mary Lou Freund Schichtl.








The family will receive friends at 12:00 p.m. Monday at Mason-Woodard Chapel, prior to the service. The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Pastor Chantry Dean will officiate. The burial will be in Kings Cemetery, near Neosho, MO.

Memorial contributions may be given to The Circle of Life Hospice in care of the mortuary.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
