(From Parker Mortuary)Iris Dugan, age 85, of Riverton, KS, passed away peacefully at The University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City on Saturday, December 2, 2023.
Iris, born on July 12, 1938, in Galena, was the beloved daughter of Beauford and Frieda (Martin) Luton. She graduated from Galena High School, and was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Galena.
Iris married Larry Dugan in 1958, and they set out on a journey of love, companionship, and exploration that lasted fifty-six years. They loved to travel and created countless lasting memories.
Iris and Larry made sure their kids, Tracy and Todd, were part of the adventures, passing on their spirit of discovery and the importance of family bonds. Larry passed away in 2014, leaving a void in her heart, but their love continued to shine through in her dedication to her family. Her children will always be grateful to her, and she will forever be remembered. Iris's spirit will live on in the hearts of family and so many lifelong friends touched by her warmth and kindness. She will be dearly missed.
In addition to her husband, Iris was preceded in death by her nephew, Shan Luton. She is survived by her daughter, Tracy White, and husband Wayne of Joplin; son, Todd Dugan of Riverton; brother, Stan Luton, and wife Sharon of Joplin; nephew, Scott Luton, and wife Julie, of Joplin; nephew Bart Dugan, and wife Angie, of Riverton; niece Pam Qualls, and husband Mike of Joplin; and niece Deborah Porter, and husband Scott of Riverton.
The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary in Joplin on Thursday, December 7, 2023, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. A graveside service to celebrate Iris's life will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery, Galena, KS.
