Dorlene Drake

Dorlene Jewel Drake, a beacon of faith and family devotion, passed away on March 12, 2025, after a short illness at Mercy Hospital in Joplin at the age of 90, enveloped in the love and care with both her sons at her side.

Born on November 17, 1934, in Colcord, Oklahoma, to Andrew Jackson (A.J.) Thompson and Mellie Mae Vinsen.

On January 17, 1954, Dorlene united in holy matrimony with Carrol Drake, who preceded her in death.








Their union was blessed with two sons, Curtis and Keith Drake, who continues to carry forth her legacy of love and compassion.

Dorlene’s life was one of devout services marked by her active involvement in the Word and Spirit Revival Tabernacle, which she helped establish and nurture. As an integral member since 1978, she contributed to the spiritual growth and outreach of the church, originally founded as the Bible Temple, in Goodman, Missouri. It was here that Dorlene’s passion for the Lord and testament to the power of prayer created an ever-widening circle of faith and fellowship. She will always be remembered as one of the Lord’s best prayer warriors.

Moreover, Dorlene was known for her admirable skills in crocheting, creating Afghans and blankets that became cherished heirlooms for her family. Her love of nature was evident in her exceptional ability to cultivate a garden brimming with beautiful flowers and vibrant Elephant Ears plants.

Dorlene is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Jackson (A.J.) and Mellie Thompson; her husband, Carrol Drake; her brothers Roy Thompson, Clarence Thompson, Vernon Thompson; her sisters, Alma Walker, Helen Ford-Wilson, Hazel Harryman, Alberta Ford, and Lula Martin.

Her legacy lives on through her two sons, Curtis Drake, with his wife Sheila, and Keith Drake, with his wife Sherry; Five grandchildren, Curt Drake with his wife Jennifer, Dude Drake, Tonya Overstreet & her husband Ryan, Keifer Drake, Caitlyn Dake her husband Jared and Dorlene’s beloved brother Harold Thompson, (Whom she loved very much) who resides in Hughson CA.








She had great-grandchildren, Casha Stephenson her husband Trenton, Cylee Drake, Madeline Drake, Jewel Drake, Trinity Drake, Ryley Overstreet, Carson “Michael” Overstreet, Jordyn Overstreet, Braylon Drake, Tytan Drake, Dagan Allen Wayne Drake, Adalee & Jaxtyn and a set of twins (boy & girl) that is still in the oven!

As we bid farewell to a soul as revered and cherished as Dorlene, we take solace in the knowledge that her light lives on through the numerous lives she brightened and the profound impact she made.
