(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Cathy Ann Guthrie, age 64 of Joplin, MO., passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, KS following an illness.
Cathy was born on December 11, 1960, in Great Bend, KS, the daughter of Bobby and Betty (Young) Cargile. She has been a long-time area resident. Cathy worked for several years at both Mid-West Orthopedics and Ortho 4 States, before working for Hobby Lobby where Cathy received an award from the corporate office for her exceptional customer service.
She also enjoyed baking, music and floral arranging and shopping, she referred to these activities as her therapy. Cathy had a love for everything she did, and for life in general, but most importantly, Cathy loved everyone in her life. She would go out her way to make those around her feel special any way she could. She wanted everyone to know that she loved them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings, Linda Pace, R.A. Cargile, David L. Cargile and Jody Baldridge.

Cathy married John Guthrie on April 3, 2015, he survives. Additional survivors include her mom; Kay Cargile, a daughter; Sarah Brite and her significant other, Matthew Sherman, of Joplin, a step-son; Matthew Guthrie of Galena, KS., two grandchildren; Riley and Sady, her sisters; Donna Kent of Webb City, MO., Dana Davis of Webb City, Delisa Walker of Webb City, and Deborah Stewart of Ft. Myers, Fl., brothers; Danny Graves of Webb City and David Graves of Duenweg, MO., and her loving In-laws; Ruth Gray, David Guthrie and Paul Guthrie, her very special friend; Connie Gurley, and many, many, nieces and nephews, “She was pretty ‘Great’”.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 28, 2025, at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation prior to the start of the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Friday.
