Leta Oyler

(From Parker Mortuary)

Leta Marie Oyler, age 96, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away on March 22, 2025. She was with her beloved husband, Leonard, in their home. She was born on April 21, 1928, in Gravette, Arkansas, to the late Clyde and Viola (Reese) Kelley.

Leta, known for her gentle spirit and kind heart, spent her professional years in many roles: as a dental assistant, a secretary at her church office in Vinita, a sales assistant at a clothing store, and as a bookkeeper at a lumber company and car dealership . Her primary commitments were always as a loving wife, a caring mom and as a follower of Christ. A steadfast member of the 1st Presbyterian Church in Joplin since 1990, Leta's involvement in her church community was a reflection of her deep-rooted beliefs and her love for service.

Leta was an avid traveler and she cherished the experiences and memories made on each journey. At home, her garden was a testament to her patience and care, while her sewing projects showcased her creativity and skill. However, it was perhaps her delicious deviled eggs, fried tacos, and her homemade pies, renowned for their perfect crusts and fillings, that will always be remembered at family gatherings.

Leta married Leonard Oyler in 1947 in Chetopa, Kansas. Leta and Leonard were sweethearts up until the very end. For their 77 years together, they were holding hands, sitting close to one another, and giving each other kisses to show their love every day. Together they raised a beautiful family.

Leta is survived by her husband, Leonard Oyler; children, Vicki Farrill, Mike Oyler (Becky), and Kay Moore (Curtis); 9 grandchildren, 15 great- grandchildren, 3 great-great- grandchildren; and several surviving cousins.

Along with her parents, Leta is preceded in death by her brother Billy Dean Kelley and son-in-law, Buck Farrill.

A Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel in Joplin, MO. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Webb City, MO.

Arrangements are under the direct care of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, MO.
