(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Mike Maddock was born on May 1, 1961, in Joplin Missouri to Joe Anne Maddock (Stephens) and Ray Maddock and graduated from Carl Junction High school in 1979 where he met his wife at the end of his senior year.
Mike and Alana married on September 12th, 1980.
He joined the Navy soon after as an Electronics Technician.
Mike and Alana had three children; Diana Miller (Micah) Joplin, Stephanie Murray (Rhett) of Pittsburg KS and Michael Maddock of Jacksonville FL.
Mike attended Valdosta University and New York University completing his Bachelors degree in Vocational Education while still in the Navy using his degree to teach other Electronic Technicians. After completing 10 years of service the family returned to the Joplin area. Mike worked for several factories using his Electronics training ending his career at Dyno Nobel of Carthage.
Mike was blessed to have found out at the age of 57 that he had 3 beloved sisters that he never knew. They became instant close siblings and did not have enough time in this world to spend together. They are Debora Palmer (Tim) Joplin, Cristy Snow (Bill) Texas, and Carrie Box (David) Joplin. Mike will be meeting his brother Doug Cramer in Heaven.
Mike was a very loving father and Papa that showed his love in very special ways. He taught his daughters to change their oil and always keep emergency money on hand. He was not above finding out if a potential date had a record. He was very happy that his girls met and married good men to help care for them. He always made sure the family cars were in good working order, rarely needing to pay a mechanic. He showed his love in so many ways and some of them we are just now learning. He taught his son Michael how to work on a car even giving advice long distance when he had a car need. He spent many hours at baseball, softball and football games and wrestling matches. He was his son’s biggest fan being very proud to work with him to help plan Mike’s retirement. He was a proud and loving Papa and nothing made him happier than his grandchildren Aiden, Chloe, Jack, Miles and Henry.
Mike was an avid fisherman spending many hours on his boat with his friends Tony and Guy. He also loved camping with family and friends and planned many more camping trips for his retirement. He loved his pets, and he loved ducks, rabbits, chickens, and spotting wildlife with his wife.
Mike was a hard working man but always made time for a little fun at work. There are so many stories told by his work friends about pranks he played on his co-workers that he considered friends. Mike was the number one chiefs fan who savored the success of winning 3 super bowls in the past 5 years after hanging in and never giving up on them for over 50 years.
Mike was a member of First Baptist Church of Joplin. His service will be officiated by Ken Hawkins and his good friend and honorary brother Tony Kinzer. He had faith that he would be in the arms of Jesus and raised his incredible children to be faithful believers.
Services will be held Thursday March 27th at 10 A.M. at Mason-Woodard Mortuary of Joplin with graveside services held afterward at Burkhart Cemetery in Racine Mo. A visitation will be held Wednesday from 6 to 7 pm at the mortuary. Memorial Contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Joplin.
