(From Derfelt Funeral Home)James “Jim” Russell Mills, age 90 of Galena, KS passed from this life on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at his home surrounded by family.
Jim was born February 23, 1935 in Bethune, Colorado to the union of Earl Thomas and Dorothy Marie (Fields) Mills. Jim was united in marriage to Mary Earlene (Nutting) Mills on April 9, 1955 in Anderson, Missouri.
Jim worked for Yellow Freight as a truck driver, retiring in 1996. Jim was a Teamster Union Steward. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Shriners, Scottish Rite and was a 33rd degree Mason. He was baptized at the Anderson Christian Church.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Dorothy Mills; two brothers, Jack Mills and Tom Mills; infant sister, Melody Mills.
Jim is survived by his wife Earlene Mills of the home; two daughters, Kay Turner (Tank Daniel), Kathie Rose (Gary); son, Kevin Mills (Bonnie); brother, Mick Mills (Norma); sister, Dixie Wright; five grandchildren, Nikki Martin, Caleb Turner, JR Turner, Josh Turner, and Dylan Mills; along with eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews; along with a special friend Jennifer Dillinger.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 20, 2025 at Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel. Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m., until service time on Thursday.
