(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Kim Thomas Cable, age 70, of Neosho, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, March 23, 2025, after a courageous hard-fought battle with cancer.
Kim was born on November 11, 1954, in Carthage, Missouri, to Donald and Charlotte Cable.
On November 10, 1977, Kim married the love of his life, Robyn Gouge, in Duenweg, Missouri. Together, they built a beautiful family.
Kim owned and operated Year Round Grounds Care since 1984. He took great care in serving his clients and working his magic on their lawns as the ‘grass scientist’. Before starting his own lawn care business, he held various jobs including positions at Pepsi Bottling Company, Century 21- Berger & Company, Woodward OK Oil Fields and Jasper County Title Company.
You could best describe Kim as a man after God’s own heart. He never shied away from teaching others about the Word of God. His love and faith in God were what motivated everything he did.
As a man who loved the outdoors, Kim enjoyed fly fishing, tending to his horses, hiking the Grand Canyon, riding his Goldwing across the country with Robyn and most of all playing with his grandchildren. He was the best wiffle ball pitcher around.
Kim was also known for his boundless energy and determination—his stubbornness and drive never waned, and up until a week before his passing, he was still doing pull-ups and hopping fences.
Kim was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Charlotte Cable. He leaves behind his wife, Robyn Cable, of the home; five daughters: Erica Cable of Palm Desert, California, Meghann Winchester (Travis) of Neosho, Missouri, Amber Houston (Justin) of Goodman, Missouri, Kerbie Lansford (Nick) of Lowell, Arkansas, and Kellie Mullins (Dannie) of Bois D’Arc, Missouri. He is also survived by his brother Monte Cable of Joplin, Missouri; his sisters: Melanie Purcell of Bonham, Texas, Kreta Gladden (Roger) of Joplin, Missouri, and Ketsy Atteberry of Joplin, Missouri; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one more on the way.
Kim’s legacy of faith, love, strength, and perseverance will live on through his family, friends, and all who were touched by his life.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Mason-Woodard Chapel. The family will receive friends and visitors from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Mason-Woodard Chapel.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory, Joplin, Missouri.
