(From Ozark Funeral Home)Alberta Ruth Williams, 86, of Anderson, Missouri, passed away peacefully at Solace House of the Ozarks on March 16, 2025.
Alberta entered life as Alberta Ruth Lowe on August 24, 1938, in Dewey, Oklahoma. She spent her childhood in the Dewey, Oklahoma area until the family moved to Wichita, Kansas in 1950.
Alberta graduated from Plainview High School in 1956 and soon met the love of her life, Frank Williams. Alberta and Frank married on November 22, 1958, and continued to live in the Wichita area where she worked doing alterations at a Sears department store. Alberta and Frank began to build a family by adopting Wally in 1967, and Melissa in 1969.
The family moved to rural Anderson, Missouri in 1970 where Alberta worked as a homemaker and transitioned from a city girl to a true pioneer woman. She loved to sew and made many of the clothes worn by her children growing up. She also enjoyed knitting, crochet, and other similar crafts. Alberta was an excellent cook and made homemade bread, jellies, jams, pickles, and canned many of the vegetables Frank grew in the garden. She had a sweet tooth so there were always homemade cookies, cakes, and other sweets around.
Alberta was active in women’s and children’s activities at First Christian Church of Anderson, MO. She loved working with children and helped with Sunday School, Bible School, and nursery. She supported her own children by volunteering in Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H, and any other activities they were involved. As her own children began to reach adulthood, she continued her love for children by running a day care in her home where children experienced love, discipline, and a Christian atmosphere. She was affectionately known as “Grandma Berta” to many local children that are now adults.
Alberta was preceded in death by parents, Cereta Edens and Albert Lowe, and husband Frank Williams.
