(From Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home)Ellen Sue Conway, age 73, of Alba, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Missouri, after suffering a massive heart attack. She entered this life on October 23, 1951, in Webb City, Missouri, the eldest of two daughters born to the late Bennie and Doloris June (Spencer) Reed.
Raised in Purcell, Missouri, Ellen was a graduate of Webb City High School, class of 1969. She furthered her education at Vatterott College in Joplin, where she earned an associate's degree in accounting.
On March 26, 1976, Ellen married, Clifford Conway, in Miami, Oklahoma. Together, they built a home filled with love and laughter in Alba, Missouri, where they resided since 1981. Ellen embraced her role as a devoted homemaker, creating a warm and welcoming environment for all who entered her home. Her husband, Clifford, sadly preceded her in death on June 11, 2011.
Ellen's legacy is carried on by her loving family. She is survived by her five children: Tina Cook and her husband, Jeff; Doloris Gladden and her husband, Scott; Dawn Conway Yoger; Cliff Conway; and Jeremy Conway. Her life was further enriched by her seventeen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren, with the joyous anticipation of great-grandchild number twenty-four. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter-in-law, Charlotte Conway, a granddaughter, Kimberly Johnson, and a sister, Rayma Reed.
Throughout her life, Ellen found solace and strength in her faith. She was a member of Purcell Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing on her computer and had a talent for crocheting. Her love for her beloved dogs was evident to all who knew her, as she cared for them with the same compassion and dedication she showed to her family and friends.
Funeral Services are 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2025 in the chapel of Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home with Pastor Lew Poe officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery east of Alba, Missouri. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Cliff Conway, Jeremy Conway, Anthony Keller, Skyelar Long, Christian Espitia, Jack Rose and Davey Maynard. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Arrangements are under the care of Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home in Webb City, Missouri.
