(From Bath-Naylor Funeral Home)Gloria Ann Iley, 74, of Pittsburg, KS died and went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at 12:23 a.m., Monday, March 17, 2025 at the Mercy Hospital in Pittsburg, KS following a short illness.
Gloria was born March 7, 1951 in Pittsburg, KS, the daughter of Frank and Fronia (Vandry) Huston. She was a resident of the area for most of her life and was a graduate of Southeast High School in 1970. She earned her B.S. degree in Elementary Education in 1977 from Pittsburg State University.
Gloria married John Lee Iley on May 24, 1975 at the Countryside Christian Church in Pittsburg, KS; he survives at the home.
Upon her graduation from college, she traveled with John to Manhattan, KS, and then, Commerce, TX, where she worked full-time in the clerical field as well as education until returning to Pittsburg. Upon returning to Pittsburg, she and John started their family, and she became a stay-at-home mom and homemaker. For the last several years, she worked as a substitute teacher for the Baxter Springs School District teaching elementary and high school students. Throughout her life, she volunteered as a Sunday School teacher and at Vacation Bible School.
Gloria loved spending time with her family, friends, and pets. She also enjoyed reading, shopping, and teaching.
Survivors include her husband; daughters Janelle Skucius, and her husband, Will, of Joplin, MO and Gabrielle Jones, and her husband, Eric, of Baxter Springs, KS; sister, Margaret Dent, and her husband, Michael, of Chanute, KS, and her grandchildren, Gage Skucius and Mariah Skucius.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Bill Huston.
Memorial Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 21, 2025 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home with Pastor Jamie Tickel officiating. Burial will be private at Timmons Chapel on the campus of Pittsburg State University. Family will receive friends from 9-10:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials to the Choices Medical Services.
