Kenneth Fannan

Kenneth Roy (Butch) Fannan was born October 30, 1944, in Joplin, MO. He was the fifth child born to the late Robert L. Fannan, Sr, and Gladys T. Hutchins Fannan. His earthly life ended on March 19, 2025 in Select Specialty Hospital, Springfield, MO at the age of 80 years, 4 months and 19 days after a hard fought illness.

Upon graduating high school in Joplin, at the age of 17, Kenneth entered the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD. The next step in his military training was Naval Flight Training School, Pensacola, FL preparing him for assignment as a fighter pilot during the Vietnam Era. 

A proud veteran who loved his country, he was awarded many citations including two Purple Hearts. His last carrier assignment was on the USS Bryce Canyon.

From the age of 14, planes and flying were his passion. After completing his military service, he was employed by American Airlines and other carriers for several years allowing him to travel the world.
Kenneth was an entrepreneur and businessman in the Joplin area. His inventive talents included the Ozark Smoker which was sold in the US and several foreign countries.

Kenneth was generous by nature, supporting many charitable causes and providing scholarships enabling many young people to further their education.

In addition to his parents, Kenneth is preceded in death by his brothers, Robert L. Fannan, Jr. and Donald Fannan; and his sisters Barbara Jeanine Morris and Wanetta Warren all of Joplin, MO.
He is survived by his companion and caregiver Judy Clark of Branson, MO; two daughters Julie (Jason) Moser and Cathy (Chris) Harlen; their mother Jo Anna Fannan; three grandsons Ethan Moser, Grant Harlen and Ross Harlen; one sister Particia Youngblood all of Joplin, MO, along with other family members and many friends.
