Ann Adkins

Margaret Ann Adkins, 91, Nevada, MO passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada. Ann was born December 6, 1933 in Pittsburg, KS to Alexander Robert and Margaret (Bodelle) Kershaw. She was united in marriage to Leroy Adkins on January 13, 1954 and he preceded her in death on September 23, 2013.

While growing up, Ann lived in various places in Kansas and Missouri and attended high school in Joplin. Following her marriage to Leroy they lived in Joplin for a number of years, and Jasper, MO for eight years before coming to Nevada in 1969. She went back to school later in life and graduated from MSSC in Joplin with a degree in Special Education. Ann taught at Franklin School and Truman Elementary specializing in 4th grade Elementary Education and later in Special Ed for many years until her retirement.






 

Ann was a longtime member of the First Christian Church in Nevada.

Survivors include a son, Michael Adkins (Bonnie), Columbia, MO; four grandchildren, Cassie Daugherty (Bobby), Raymore, MO, Mindy Culp, Merriam, KS, Kimberly Wright (Andrew), Columbia, MO, and Abbie Perry (Evan), Columbia, MO; seven great-grandchildren, Max Wright, Hattie Wright, Carter Perry, Cooper Perry, Adrian Hymer, Alexis Leighty, and Lucas Daugherty; a sister, Sandra Iversen, Webb City, MO; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Leroy, she was preceded in death by her parents, and a daughter, LeAnna Culp.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Ferry Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Mosher officiating. A private committal will be held at a later date at the Ft. Scott National Cemetery.
