(From Bedene Funeral Home)Darvin E. Weaver, 76, of Mulberry, Kansas died at 11:19 P.M. Friday, March 28, 2025 at Mercy Hospital at Pittsburg, Kansas.
Mr. Weaver was born July 19, 1948 at Pittsburg, Kansas the son of Clarence William and Jeanette Ramage Weaver. Darvin was a publisher and a printer who has been a resident of Mulberry since 1977. He was raised in Pittsburg and graduated from Pittsburg High School in the Class on 1966. He later attended auctioneer school in Kansas City.
He worked at the Mulberry News Journal owned by Josephine Cattaneo, Baxter Springs Citizen, Ft. Scott Tribune, Pittsburg Morning Sun, in 1977 he started The Mulberry Advance, and in 1987 bought the Liberal News. He was Assistant Fire Chief for the City of Mulberry for 38 years and served on the Mulberry City Council for 3 terms and is currently serving in that position. From 1968 to 1969 he served as a Spec 4 in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
He married Ruth Ann Chaplin on June 17, 1976 at Pleasanton, Kansas. Mrs. Weaver survives at the home. He was a member of the Pittsburg American Legion and the Kansas and Missouri Press Association. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Ann of the home, two sons, Daniel E. Weaver of Mulberry and Darrin (Hattie) Weaver of Columbus, a sister-in-law, Pam Weaver of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Robin D. Weaver and George (Bud) Ramage.
Funeral services will be at 11 A.M. Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at the Bedene Funeral Home at Arma, Kansas. Eulogy will be given by Kenneth Spurgeon. Burial will be at the Rosebank Cemetery at Mulberry, Kansas. The family will receive friends from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. Wednesday prior to the funeral services at 11 A.M. The Ft. Riley Burial Detail will conduct graveside flag folding services. Friends may also call Tuesday from 11 A.M. to 4 P.M. Tuesday at the Bedene Chapel. The family suggests memorials to the Mulberry Fire Department. Donations may be sent to or left at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, Kansas 66712.
