Bill Hughes

William “Bill” Hughes, age 85, of Joplin, Missouri passed away unexpectedly Tuesday March 18, 2025.

He was born September 15, 1939 in Red Bay, Alabama to James and Willie (Morrow) Hughes.

Bill was General Manager for John Hoffer Dodge as well as working at Royal Motors in Pittsburg, Kansas, and R & S Chevrolet Joplin, Missouri. He also served in the United States Navy. But above all, he was loving husband, father, papaw and a child of God.








He married Wanda Brock on November 22, 1963 in Charleston, Missouri and she survives. Bill is also survived by two sons, Brian Hughes, Joplin, Missouri, William Hughes Jr. and wife Kelly, Lees Summit, Missouri; two daughters, Kimberly DeJarnatt and husband Hal, Springdale, Arkansas, Alicia Hirshey and husband, Nick, Joplin, Missouri; one brother, James “Jim” Hughes, 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild as well as numerous extended family and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister Carolyn Bell.








Those honoring his life serving as pallbearers will be, Will Hughes III, Caleb DeJarnatt, Noah DeJarnatt, Brock Hughes, Dawson Hirshey and Isaac Hardin.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am Saturday March 22, 2025 at Mason-Woodard Mortuary with Randy Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Stone Cemetery.
