(From Parker Mortuary)Betty Jo Thomas, age 92 of Carthage, Missouri, passed away March 9 2025 peacefully at her home surrounded by her family. Betty was born July 19, 1932 in Carthage Missouri to the late Harry C. and Snoda (Chumley) Greene.
Betty grew up and attended Carthage Schools before later receiving her GED after leaving to help take care of her family. At a young age, Betty married Herschel McDaniel and together had four children,Gail,Steve,Glenda,Snoda. Herschel passed and she later married James E. Thomas in 1974.
Betty was a homemaker,and a seamstress and worked at Big Smith in Carthage for 30 years. She enjoyed family camping trips at the lake, planting flowers, music and dancing along with supporting her sport teams like KU Jayhawks and the KC Chiefs.
Surviving Betty include daughters, Gail Jefferies (Dave) of Carthage, Glenda Holmes (Bill) of Golden City, Missouri and Snoda ‘Kay’ Forste (Clifton) also of Golden City.9 grandchildren,21great grandchildren,7 great great grandchildren.

Other than her parents, Betty is preceded in death by husbands, Herschel McDaniel and James Thomas; son, Steve McDaniel; sisters, Juanita Guerero and Bertha Bolstad; great granddaughter, Kelsey Markley.
Burial of ashes will take place at a later date at Park Cemetery in Carthage, Missouri.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
