Wentworth rural area all his life. Graduated from Sarcoxie High School May of 1956.
Gerald met his future wife, Barbara Sawyer, at a swimming hole near Mt. Vernon. Gerald jumped in with his shorts, and his old brown dress hat, and Barbara laughed so hard. It was attraction at first sight. They were married soon after on January 19, 1961. Married 64 years.
Gerald was drafted into the Army 1961, went to Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. and Fort Chaffee, Arkansas for training. Then he was sent to Fort Sweinfort, Germany. Barbara followed him and they lived there a little over a year, Gerald finished his service there. Returning home to rural Wentworth, he joined the National Guard Engineer Battalion in Pierce City, MO for 32 years.
Gerald was a jack-of-all trades, mastering many things. He was a skilled builder and well water pump service repair man.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie & Vineta (Overall) Boggs. His brothers, Marion, Walter, Melvin, and sisters: infant Sherrel, Charlena, and Loretta.
Gerald and Barbara had 5 children, 2 daughters: LeAnn (Tom) Reynolds, Renee (Duane) Foster, and 3 sons: Steven (Kris) Boggs, Gene (Whitney) Boggs, and Charlie (Alisha) Boggs, all living nearby. 24 Grandkids, 3 Great Grandsons, and one Great Granddaughter on the way.
Gerald is survived by his family and one brother Mitchell, and three sisters Annabelle, Shirley, and Lorene.
Gerald loved spending time with family and recalling his ornery escapeds.
