(From Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home)Cathy May Patrick, 65, of Sarcoxie, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, surrounded by her loving family.
Cathy was born on July 9, 1959, to the union of Carl and Clara (Moss) Houck. She lived in Sarcoxie all her life. She was a 1977 graduate of Sarcoxie High School. She then attended MSSC where she enjoyed playing her flute in the band. In 1995 she received a degree at Crowder College. She formed many lifelong friendships and had a strong sense of loyalty to her hometown.
During high school she worked at Reba’s. Then after high school she worked at McDonald’s in Carthage. She later moved on to Fred's Frozen Foods for fourteen years where she met the love of her life Randy.
On August 8, 1981, she was united in marriage to Randall Patrick, sharing forty-three wonderful years of memories. She later went on to work as a licensed agent for Shelter Insurance. Working with car, home, life insurance and annuities. She retired in 2006 while working as the school Librarian for Diamond School District where she was employed for eight years. She loved reading to the students, decorating the library, hallways and dressing up to go with the books she was reading.
She continued to contribute to her town by helping with Chief Sarcoxie Days, PTA President, Sarcoxie Athletic Booster Club President and youth sports director. For seven years she served as youth sports Cheerleader director and cheerleader coach, 7th & 8th grade cheerleader coach, Tee ball coach for boys and girls and softball coach. Cathy’s cuties twirling girl’s leader, Boy scout leader and Eagle Scout assistant leader.
She and Randy traveled forty- six states as well as several cruises. Randy, Carlin, Katie, Karlie and Brock were her whole life. In 2004 she was diagnosed with head, neck and throat cancer and was given five years to live. She remained a fighter, having many rounds of treatment. She had one medical problem after another thru the years. She was strong and brave and fought it all until the end. She had the will to live so she could be with Randy, Carlin, Katie, Karlie and Brock. She will truly be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Cathy is survived by her husband, Randall Patrick; children, Carlin Patrick and Katie Patrick, both of Sarcoxie; grandchildren, Karlie (Patrick) Carter and husband, Kyler of Clarksville, TN and Brock Patrick; mother, Clara Houck, Carthage, sister, Carolyn Conway and husband Dale; her puppy, Molly; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends. She will truly be missed by those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Carl Houck, Sr, and brother Carl Houck, Jr.

Funeral services for Cathy are 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home in Sarcoxie, Missouri, with Pastor Clifford Block officiating. Burial will follow at the Sarcoxie Cemetery. Those honoring her life by servicing as pallbearers are James Ellis, Denver Feather, Brandon Weaver, Tommy Jack, Clint Block, Wayne Nixon, Gary Nixon and James Mead. Honorary pallbearers will be Brock Patrick and Carlin Patrick. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
