(From Parker Mortuary)Elizabeth “Jane” Sohosky, age 82 of Joplin, Missouri, passed peacefully on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at National Healthcare of Joplin following an extended illness.
Jane was born January 7, 1943 in Joplin to the late Ralph and Dorris (Cannon) Beeler. Jane graduated in 1960 from Joplin High School and went on to take classes at Southwest Missouri State College in Springfield. For many years, Jane was a favorite teacher to many of her students at Children’s House in Joplin until her health declined.
On February 8, 1964, Jane married the love of her life, John Sohosky, III and just celebrated 61 years together in marriage.
To this union came daughters, Jill Koenig (Craig) of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, Julie Taylor (Chris) of Joplin; sons, Jason Sohosky (Landie) of Joplin and J.J. Sohosky (Misty) of Medina, Ohio; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Other than her parents, Jane is preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Beeler.
Jane loved painting and doing crafts with her children and grandchildren. She felt family was the most important part of life and cherished every moment. She enjoyed every morning having coffee on the back porch with the love of her life.
A Celebration of Life will take place at Old Chicago in Joplin, Missouri from 1-4 pm in the banquet room on Saturday, March 22, 2025. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri. A private burial will be scheduled for a later date.
