(From Parker Mortuary)Beverly Ann Hunt, age 89, Joplin, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2025 at a local hospital.
Beverly was born October 25, 1935 in Joplin, daughter of the late Augusta Gripka and Stella (Gollhopher) Gripka. She grew up in Joplin and graduated from Joplin High School. She worked several jobs over the years including being an operator with Southwestern Bell, and she worked at the cafeteria with Joplin R VIII School District.
She loved working with the children and was always watching to see if she could help them in anyway. She especially enjoyed being there for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was known for being good at crocheting and enjoyed being a “people watcher”. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Hunt who passed away in 1993. Also preceding her in death were two sisters, Mildred Medacco and Pat Sloniker, and a brother, Bud Gripka.
Survivors include her daughters, Brenda Copher and husband Ed of Joplin, and Barb Hobbs and husband Tim of Anderson, MO; grandchildren, Felecia Matthews (Keith) of Joplin, Autumn Massa (Mario) of Joplin, Nathan Copher of Edmond, OK, Jake Hobbs (Samantha) of Anderson, MO, Ethan Hobbs (Savannah) of Lebanon, MO, and Cody Hobbs (Ashton) of Anderson, MO; great-grandchildren, Bryson, Brecklyn, Zakkery, Memphis, Witten, Abby, Emma, Kenleigh, Hudson, Jack, Harper, Canyon, Parker, and Shepherd ; sister, Bernice Lonczak of Chicopee, MA; several nieces and nephews.
Nathan Copher, Ethan Hobbs, Cody Hobbs, Keith Matthews, Bryson Matthews, and Zakkery Gilbert serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers, Mario Massa and Jake Hobbs.

Graveside service will be Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor John Mitchell officiating. Nathan Copher, Ethan Hobbs, Cody Hobbs, Keith Matthews, Bryson Matthews, and Zakkery Gilbert serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers, Mario Massa and Jake Hobbs.
The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Tuesday from 1:00 until 1:30 p.m.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
