(From Brenner Mortuary)Cynthia "Cindy" Jeanne Jones, 64, of rural Scammon, Kansas, passed away on Thursday morning, April 9, 2026, at her home.
Cindy was born May 12, 1961, in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Joseph and Charlotte (Habiger) Stottmann. She grew up in Parsons and graduated from Labette County High School in Altamont. After graduating high school, she moved to Dallas, Texas and worked in insurance. After 10 years, she moved back to Parsons and worked for Seaton-Wood Insurance in Parsons. She then began attending Labette Community College and graduated from Pittsburg State University, graduating Summa Cum Laude. After graduating from PSU, she began working for BKD in Pittsburg, later transferring to the Joplin office. She then started her own firm Jones Tax and Accounting, LLC.
On September 21, 1991, she was united in marriage to Doug Jones in the Presbyterian Church in Scammon, Kansas. They then resided in rural Scammon.
Cindy was an accountant and owner of Jones Tax and Accounting LLC in Pittsburg. She took great pride in assisting her clients and made lasting friendships with many of them.
When Cindy wasn't working, she enjoyed shopping, going to Flea Markets, canning from her garden, watching soap operas and playing card games, especially Solitaire. She was very competitive and loved to win, playing by the rules. Cindy was a loving wife and mother, spending quality time with her guys (Doug and Corey).
Cindy enjoyed traveling on family vacations. She always looked forward to family gatherings, no matter how large or small, including her sister's weekends, when she and her sisters would get together. She especially loved spending time with her best friend Lisa (Giefer) Mailes.
At PSU she was a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and Delta Mu Delta International Honor Society. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends at home. Cindy was always very generous and donated to various organizations with time and financially. She loved to collect Precious Moments figurines.
Survivors include her husband, Doug of the home; a son, Corey Jones of the home; her mother, Charlotte Stottmann of Parsons, Kansas; two brothers, Mike Stottmann (Darlene) of Salina, Kansas and David Stottmann (special friend, Tracy) of Parsons, Kansas; four sisters, Arlene Thiessen (Doug) of Beloit, Kansas, Janice Williams of Kansas City, Missouri, Brenda Davis (Kevin) of Manhattan, Kansas, Linda Roland (Don) of Hutchinson, Kansas; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and brothers-in-law; and her best friend, Lisa (Giefer) Mailes (Bryan) of Harrisonville, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Stottmann.
A memorial visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17th, 2026, at Brenner Mortuary in Pittsburg. The family suggests memorials be given to Pittsburg State University Business Department. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St, Pittsburg, KS 66762.
