(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Roy A. Sprouse, age 92, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away April 12, 2026, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.
Roy was born August 17, 1933, in Joplin, Missouri, to Ola and Ollie Sprouse. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. His time in the service reflected his quiet strength, sense of duty, and love for his country—qualities that remained with him throughout his life.
On February 16, 1952, he married Betty King. Together they shared a lifetime of love, building a home and raising two children. Their years together were marked by deep devotion, enduring companionship, and countless cherished memories until her passing.
Roy found joy in life’s simple blessings. He loved fishing, camping, and traveling with the love of his life. Those moments, whether on the road or by the water, were the ones he treasured most.
He was a founding member and pastor of Faith Holiness Church. He loved the Lord more than anything.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Sprouse; his son, Steven Sprouse; his parents; his brother, Arthur Sprouse; his sister, Betty Severs, and infant twin siblings.
He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Gardner and husband Bud; five grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends who will carry his memory forward.
A funeral service has been scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 20, at Mason-Woodard Chapel.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., prior to the service.
