Mona Marie Moore, age 73, Joplin, passed away at 5:29 a.m. Friday, February 28, 2014 at her home after a sudden illness.
She was born May 10, 1940 in Rock Springs, Wyoming to the late Roy C. Harvey and Viola May Jenkins Harvey.
She worked for 30 years in warehousing for Montgomery Ward, Inc. while living in Denver, Colorado. She then worked for Fuji Film as a processor for several years.
Mona enjoyed yard sales; flea markets and Mexican Food!
She is survived by her children, Teresa Koger, Denver, Colorado, Shane Atkins, Joplin, Shawna Maynes, Joplin; grandchildren, Timothy Koger, Brandon Koger, Torey Atkins, Kayla Cox, Craig Atkins; and several great grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends following the services at the church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.

Mark Stepp, age 53, Joplin, passed away at 5:00 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Mercy Hospital.
Mark was born May 9, 1960 in Baxter Springs, Kansas.
He had worked as a painter for most of his working life.
Mark is survived by a daughter, Stephanie Frazier, Greenville, New York; his father, Russell Stepp and his wife, Virginia, Joplin; three brothers, Ricky Stepp, Kansas City, Missouri, Roger Stepp and Rodney Stepp, both of Miami, Oklahoma; and one sister, Joyce Stepp, Sayre, Oklahoma.
A memorial committal service is planned for Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.

Helen Sims, 91, Granby, died at March 1, 2014 in Granby, following a short term illness.
Helen was born July 18, 1922 in Granby, the daughter of Earl and Ella (Peters) Largen. She was a lifelong area resident and a homemaker.
Helen married Terrel Sims on Aug. 17, 1942 and he preceded her in death on March 18, 1996. She is survived by four children, Deloris Shewmake, Granby; Terry Sims and wife, Brenda, Neosho; Cheryl Fazel and husband, Tom, Wichita, KS and Shirley L. Castiaux and husband, John, Cookeville, TN; a granddaughter they raised, Danette Whitman, Granby; one brother, Bill Largen, Afton, OK; 15 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Richard Sims, grandson, Justin Sims; 3 sisters and 2 brothers.

Steve Clyde Glumm, age 65 of Joplin, MO, passed away at 8:18 Saturday evening March 1, 2014 at his home.
Steve Clyde Glumm, age 65 of Joplin, MO, passed away at 8:18 Saturday evening March 1, 2014 at his home.
He was born on May 28, 1948 in St Louis, MO. the son of Allen and Helen “Lively” Glumm. Steve was a veteran serving his country during the Vietnam War with the United States Army. He married Linda Conway on August 28, 1969 in St Louis, MO. He was a member of the Joplin VFW post 534, the Joplin American Legion post 13 and volunteered with the American Red Cross.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Rose Hurbert. Survivors include his wife Linda of the home; a son Albert Glumm and wife Shellon of Grand Forks, ND; a daughter Pamela “Glumm” Lefmann and husband William of Joplin, MO; eight grandchildren: Andrew Glumm, Faith Herron, Jessica Herron, Brittanie Herron, Christopher Harpole, Elizabeth Glumm, Brandon Glumm and Arya Glumm; four great-grandchildren: Ayden Duncan, Ace Glumm, Collin Haddock and Patience Haddock; a brother Ira Glumm and wife Claudine; a sister Charlotte “Glumm” Rasor and husband Ray; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday March 12, 2014 at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 PM Monday March 10, 214 at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary. The family suggests contributions to the American Red Cross in care of the Mortuary.

Betty Potter

Betty E. Potter, age 88, of Lamar passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Truman Healthcare Center.
Betty was born December 15, 1925 in Clinton, Oklahoma; one of the three children, and only daughter of Lotan and Annie (Willsey) Collier. After graduating from Clinton High School, she met Bob Potter, a Missouri sailor serving at Clinton Sherman Naval Air Station. They were married January 21, 1944 and had celebrated 55 years together before his death on May 12, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Steve Collier.
In addition to being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Betty was a hospitable homemaker with an open door and welcoming heart for family, neighbors, and friends. She and Bob owned and operated Bob Potter Mens Wear on the Lamar Square for many years. Betty will also be remembered by many as their Fashion 220 or Melaleuca representative. She was a member of the Lamar United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Esther circle of the United Methodist Women, a 50 year member of Mount Hope Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, and Lamar Literary Guild.
Survivors include children, LaMalva (Don) Keithly, Gary (Julie) Potter, and Mike Potter, all of Lamar, Janet (Steve) Bowman, Rogersville, Missouri, and Kimbi (Mike) Tidball, Carthage; two brothers, Morris (Aleta) Collier, Lincoln, Nebraska and Weldon (Patsy) Collier, Weatherford, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Greg (Aimee) Keithly, Stacey Keithly, Joshua (Laura) Keithly, Erin (Levi) Keithly-Coats, Nathan Bowman, Lynne (Tim) Reo, Celeste (Joe) Chaligoj, Camille Potter (Kenny Blanchard), Ashlee (Chris) Jankowski, Austin Potter, Tyler (Courtney) Tidball, Trevor Tidball, Rachel Bromley and Stacey Bromley. Betty delighted in her great-grandchildren, Zada Keithly, Ava & Nola Keithly, Henry & Lily Keithly, Garrett Bowman, Kalyn & Kadence Reo, Aidan Potter-Chaligoj, Becca Chaligoj, Amielia Blanchard, Haley & Elena Jankowski, and was looking forward to welcoming her first great-great granddaughter to the family in April. An Eastern Star service were conducted at 6:00 p.m. Friday, February 28th at Lamar United Methodist Church.. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 1st at Lamar United Methodist Church.

Donald Severn
Don was born on July 21, 1931 in Joplin. The son of Jasper and Elsie Severn, he graduated from Joplin High School in 1950. He married Margaret L Wilson on September 7, 1952, she survives.
Don served in the United States Navy for 4 years serving on the ammunition ship, USS Mazama. He then worked at Rogers Iron Works in Joplin as the personnel manager for 5 years and retired from B. F. Goodrich in Miami OK where he worked as a maintenance mechanic. In recent years, Don was a member of the mowing crew that tended to the grounds of the Carl Junction Cemetery. Don was a master carpenter, building numerous pieces of furniture for his home, his loved ones and his friends.
Donald and his wife Margaret have spent a lifetime of devotion to the Carl Junction First Baptist Church where Don served as a deacon and the head usher. He also taught the 5th grade Sunday School class. He is survived by a large and loving Church family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Freddie Robert Severn and a sister Aileen King.
Survivors include his wife, three daughters, Gwendolyn Ewing and husband Galen, Carl Junction. Denise Elliott and husband T. Mark, Oronogo and Jeanne Babb and husband Charley, Carthage. Nine grandchildren, Rhett Elliott and wife Mary, Haley Elliott, Hillary Frey and husband Nick, Steven Hildreth, Michael Hildreth, Natalie Martin and husband Jay, Clayton Babb, Joshua Ewing and Hannah Walker and husband Zack. Seven great grandchildren, Tommy Elliott, Arden Elliott, Cecilia Hildreth, Molly Martin, twins, Cash and Lane Martin, and Anora Walker. Brother Leonard Severn and wife Charlene, Platte City, MO and sisters Florence Wolsey, Frontenac, KS and Sharon Severn, DeSoto, MO also survive.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Carl Junction with Reverend Steve Stafford officiating. Visitation is Monday 6 to 7 p.m. at the church. Pallbearers will be the grandsons and Art Maddox. Military Rites and burial will follow the services at the Carl Junction Cemetery.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, that memorial contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church of Carl Junction, MO.

She was born October 24, 1915 in Racine, Mo. to Alfred and Mary (Stull) Neece. Floye was a lifetime area resident. She attended the 1st Christian Church in Joplin, Mo... She was very involved with people that had disabilities. She was a house mother work 4 years at Woodhaven which was a home for people that had disabilities.
She married Charles Duke and he preceded her in death in 1958. She then married Ellis Kindred and he preceded her in death in 1993. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Virgil Neece Floye is survived by her daughter, Paige Duke, Carthage, Mo., one sister Thelma Malett and husband Gene, Carthage, Mo., one nephew, Kim Mallett and wife Randi, One niece, Kathy Pester and husband, Paul, two great nephews Kerry Malett, Sam Pester, and one great niece, Kristin Malett.
Gravesides services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at the Osborne Cemetery with Rev. Fred Pugh officiating.
