Sam Dalton

Sam Dalton, age 81 of Pierce City, MO went on to be with his Lord on Thursday, September 05, 2019 after succumbing to injuries sustained from a car accident on August 24th, he received excellent care at Evelyn’s (Hospice) House in Creve Coeur, MO. Sam was born in Washburn, MO on October 4th, 1937 to Clarence and Ona (Carnes) Dalton.

He married Joyce Stuflebeam on November 28th, 1958 after coming home from serving proudly in the U.S. Army in Panama.

Sam loved the Lord and he had the spiritual gift of service, he faithfully served in many capacities in the churches that he was a member of, the last 20 years at First Baptist in Pierce City. Sam and Joyce traveled the country in their camper and were proud members of Campers on Missions for many years after retiring until Joyce’s health began deteriorating. Sam was a devoted caregiver to Joyce and she preceded in him in death on July 20th, 2018. 

Sam never met a stranger and loved to razz anyone he met, he will be sorely missed by anyone who knew him. Sam loved anything outdoors, going fishing, attending car races or being a cheer leader for Pierce City School sports teams. He spent his mornings on his front or back porch welcoming in the day with friends coming over for coffee.








Surviving are the following: Daughter, Linda (Don) Robert from Glen Carbon, IL; Sons Gary (Vickie) Dalton of Cedar Lake, IN and David (Alice) Dalton of Gillespie, IL; 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. One sister, Geneva Brown of Pierce City, two brothers, Vernon Dalton of Riverside, CA and Jerry Dalton of Carthage, MO and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 60 years, Joyce, and his brother and fishing buddy, J.B Dalton.

Visitation for Sam will be on Monday, September 9th from 9 am to 11 am at First Baptist Church of Pierce City, celebration of life service will be at 11 am at the church with Pastor Greg Hagebusch officiating. Burial will follow at Clear Creek Cemetery west of Pierce City, MO.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either Clear Creek Cemetery, First Baptist Church of Pierce City or Pierce City Seniors Center.

  1. So sad to hear about Sam he came in the diner were i worked at in Wyandotte Ok he was alot fun so was his brother jp well be missed
