Donald M. Morris, 89, Carthage, MO, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2016 at the Golden Living Center, Pittsburg, Kansas. Donald Martin Morris was born December 30, 1926 in Newton County, MO, the son of the late Martin Luther Morris and Auda Mae Willis Morris. He was a 1944 graduate of Carthage Senior High School and was a U. S. Army veteran during WWII. He married Frances L. Willis on January 21, 1951 in Carthage; she preceded him in death on September 22, 1987. Don was a machinist for 30 years, working for Midwestern Machinery, Joplin for 15 years. He attended the Fairview Christian Church, Carthage.
Survivors include two daughters; Stephanie Evans (Randy), Carthage and Elizabeth (Brent) Hoskins, Lenexa, KS; two sons; John C. (Shawna) Morris, Carthage and Stephen Morris, Arizona; one sister, Jeneva Fitzwater, Plattsburgh, New York; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Dorothy Connor.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the Knell Mortuary Chapel, Carthage. Minister Tony Allmoslecher, Fairview Christian Church will officiate. Interment will be in Park Cemetery, Carthage. Memorial gifts are suggested to the Golden Living Center, Pittsburg, KS in care of Knell Mortuary, 308 W. Chestnut, Carthage, MO 64836.
