Eva Bernice Steele, age 80 of Joplin, passed away at 2:50 a.m. on Friday, January 22, 2016 at Mercy Hospital.
Born September 4, 1935 in Carthage, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Pearl Lane Dome and lived in the Joplin area her lifetime. A homemaker, Bernice was a devoted mother and loved her grandkids. She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church and formerly served as a Cub Scout Den Mother and on the Hampshire Terrace Board of Directors.
On May 1, 1953 she married Edward C. Steele. He preceded her in death on April 27, 2014. Three brothers and three sisters also preceded her.
Survivors include four sons, Kenneth Steele and wife Vickie of Webb City, Mike Steele and wife Evelyn of Joplin, Randy Steele of Joplin, Greg Steele and wife Denise of Carl Junction; a sister, Betty Beard of Joplin; seven grandchildren, Matthew Steele, Chad Steele, Monica Mitchell, Amanda Steele, Tasha Steele, Kyle Vene and Axle Vene; seven great-grandchildren, Carsen Steele, Maxwell Steele, Darian Steele, Jett Steele, Conner Steele, Hunter Mitchell and Trinidy Mitchell; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Parker Chapel with Randy Steele officiating. Interment will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Matt, Chad, Greg, Mike and Darian Steele and Harley Burns serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Judd, Henry Spencer and Hunter Mitchell. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Parker Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to New Hope United Methodist Church. The family will be at the home of a son, Greg, 344 Briarbrook Drive, Carl Junction.
