Geneva Jean Reed, age 80 of Carterville, Mo., passed away early Saturday, January 16, 2016, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Mo. following an illness.
Geneva was born on October 5, 1935 in Liberal, Mo., the daughter of the late Cecil & Shareline (Pugh) Williams. She has been a lifetime area resident. Geneva worked as a sales rep. for Avon for over 47 years, working until her passing. She received numerous awards from Avon and collected Avon Albee dolls and bells. Geneva was a member of the Fairview Christian Church in Carthage, Mo.
She married Charles Reed on June 6, 1954 in Lamar, Mo., he survives. Additional survivors include 2 daughters, Nancy Pierson and husband Kevin of Joplin, Pam Clark of Purcell, Mo.; 1 son, Lendell Reed of Carthage, Mo.; 1 sister, Helen Boman of Joplin; 2 brothers, Verlie Williams of Skiatook, Ok., Charlie Williams of Carl Junction, Mo.; 16 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at the Mason-Woodard Chapel, Pastor Tony Allmoslecher, will officiate. Burial will follow at Carterville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home during a time of visitation from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
