Maria Lucia Gray, age 81, Joplin, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Mercy Hospital following a sudden illness.
Maria was born November 21, 1934 in Colombia, South America to the late German Aristizabal and Ester Valencia Aristizabal. On June 23, 1978, Maria married Howard "Bruce" Gray in Santa Ana, California. They lived in California before moving to Joplin in 1985. Previously she worked for Columbia Broadcasting Services and for the last several years has been a Senior Aerobics Instructor, keeping the Aerobic Divas in step. Maria was a member of Harmony Heights Baptist Church in Joplin.

Additional survivors include a son, Julio Navarro and wife, Marisabel of Tampa, Florida; daughter, Olga Navarro Hefner and husband, David of Anaheim, California; four grandchildren, Anna, Sofi, Diego and Julio, Jr.; sisters, Angela, Ester Sofia and Libia of Colombia; brothers, Fabio and Mario of Colombia, Ivan, Jaime, German, and Gustavo of Florida; God-son, Gustavo, Jr.; several nieces, nephews and many extended family and friends.
Other than her parents, Maria is preceded in death by an infant brother and another brother, Guillermo.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, January 30 at 1:30 p.m. at Harmony Heights Baptist Church in Joplin. Pastor Charlie Burnett will be officiating.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
