Charles “Tall Bear” Stephens, age 60, went to be with the great maker in the sky on January 20, 2016 following a short illness.
He was born June 4, 1955 in Webb City, Missouri to Charles and Elsie (Hannah) Stephens.
Charles served in the United States Army and the 603rd National Guard unit. He worked at Brass Eagle in Neosho, Missouri. He graduated from MSSU with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
He married Mary Scott Palmer on March 18, 1995 in Miami, Oklahoma and she survives. He is also survived by four sons, Toby Palmer and wife, Laura, Ryan Palmer and wife, Autumn, Thomas Stephens and Daniel Stephens; two daughters, Charlotte Kennedy and husband, Will and Victory Carlock and husband, Matthew; one brother, William Stephens, and 17 grandchildren.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 24, 2016 at Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary with Michael 2-Leaf Meadows officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in care of the mortuary.
