William 'Bill' Grimmett, Webb City, went home to meet his Lord and Saviour on January 14, 2016. He was welcomed to Heaven by his first born son, Bob, who passed on December 3, 2015.
Bill was born on October 4, 1935 in a rural farmhouse near Americus, Kansas to the late Ernest and Lola Killion Grimmett.
He married the love of his life, Betty Lou Jackson of Americus, Kansas on October 11, 1953. They have four sons and were married for 62 years.
Bill was a fourth generation masonry and construction contractor in Emporia, Kansas and surrounding areas. He owned and operated New-Aire Fireplace Manufacturing in Joplin and retired in 1995.
Bill was a devout Christian who loved the Lord and his family with all of his heart. He would always take time for all that would listen to his many life stories. He was a hard worker and enjoyed creating and constructing his many inventions. Bill's devotion to his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will remain in our hearts forever.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; daughter-in-law, Susan Grimmett, Topeka, Kansas; three sons, Rex Grimmett and his wife, Cynthia, Paris, Tennessee, Scott Grimmett and his wife, Lori, Reading, Kansas, Stephen Grimmett, Springfield, Missouri; grandchildren, Stephen, Mike, John, Marissa, Matt, Melanie, Jeff, Will, Jesse, Luke; and great grandchildren, Cayla, Carrlee, Landon, Ellie, Jaxson, Molly, Braxton, Brayden, Atley, Avery, Kingston and Karson.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Lola Grimmett; son, Robert Matthew Grimmett; five sisters and one brother.
Memorial services are planned for Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Westside Baptist Church, Emporia, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to North Main Street Baptist Church, P.O.
