Virginia Shaw

Virginia H. Shaw, age 88, of Joplin, passed away peacefully on Wednesday January 6, 2016, surrounded by family singing her favorite hymns. 

Virginia was born on December 29, 1927 in Independence, Ks, the daughter of the late Melvin Hight and Mary (Enz) Hight, and has been an area resident since 1989 moving here from Waynesville, Mo. She married Charles H. Shaw, on June 1, 1947 in Fayetteville, Ar., he proceeded her in death October 7, 1984. Virginia received her Master’s degree from North Eastern University, Tahlequah, Ok., receiving the honor of Magna Cum Laude. She taught school in Waynesville, Mo. for 28 years, retiring with 38 years in teaching. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of the Blendville Christian Church. 

Virginia is survived by one son Charles C. Shaw and his wife Debbie of Grove, Ok., a daughter, Sheryl Stidham and her husband Frank of Joplin, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by twelve siblings.

Memorial Graveside Services are currently scheduled for Memorial Day weekend at the Riley Cemetery in Vici, Ok.
